Takahagi Beach Garden

Takahagi Beach Garden was a seaside leisure park in Takahagi, Ibaraki, Japan, loved for its bowling alley, go-karts, roller rink, and the prefecture's longest pool — until it closed its gates in 2000. Few records of the place survive today.

Takahagi Beach Garden GB preserves this "town memory" the playable way: every attraction has been recreated as an 8-bit minigame, built from period photos and the stories locals still remember, and faithful enough to run on real Game Boy hardware. Keep your own bowling score by hand, race the tire-lined kart track, drive off beach intruders with a water gun — collect all the stamps, and the park's guardian awakens.
